Q: "Is there food or anything else at your show ?" A: The show is part of the Jordan Fall Festival and set-up right next to the festival grounds. For breakfast (Sunday morning - show day) there will be a Pancake breakfast, Home-Made Donuts and Breakfast Pizza. At 11am all other booths open which include many food options (including a Chicken BBQ), a craft tent, a merchants tent, kids rides and games. Check out the 2007 festival schedule here.
Q: "Our car club is interested in coming. Do you allow clubs to participate?" A: Absolutely! Bring everyone with you. If you give us some notice we may even be able to assure that all your buddies can park in the same area.
Q: "Does your show give away dash plaques ?" A: Yes, to the FIRST 200 registrants. This includes pre-registered. We also may have some older dash plaques (left overs) for sale.
Q: "What qualifies as an antique car ?" A: According to the Antique Automobile Club of America an antique car generally over 25 years of age.
Q: "How about a classic car?" A: From Wikipedia - Classic car is a term frequently used to describe an older car, but the exact meaning is subject to serious differences in opinion.
Q: "Why did the judging take so long this year ?" (2006) A: Not enough judges! Plans are to have many more in 2007. |

Q: "Why would an all stock car be in the same class competing with a modified car. Would it be more fair to separate the 2 and make 2 classes ?" |
Q: "Were you using volunteers from the spectators ?" A: Yes, we were using some volunteers from the spectators, as well as car show participants, as long as they didn't judge their own class. We also had local car buffs judging. We need as many judges as we can get to make things quicker and smoother. We simply cannot afford to pay professional judges to judge our car show. We are 100% volunteer and pros are simply not an option. We'd certainly welcome your help with judging next year. |

Q: I'm fairly new to this. What are the judges looking for? A: Check here: Judges Form. Bottom line is we don't check for "matching numbers" kinds of things, rather the emphasis is more on cleanliness and lack of cosmetic defects. If you have orange peel in your paint job, and wavy fenders, you will lose points. If you have a '67 Chevelle with a 350 motor out of a '79 Impala with nice orange paint and chrome rocker covers, we probably won't mind at all. |

Q: "Are you an actual club that is putting on the show ?" A: No, we are not a club. The Jordan Fall Festival was started in 1947 to address the tragedy of a child drowning in a local swimming hole, and, then as now, generates money for the public swimming pool just outside the village, including swimming lessons, as well as many other community programs. No single individual makes a dime from the Festival in general, (except the craft tent people and the merchant tent businesses where they pay rent for their space). This year (2006) will be the 28th consecutive Car Show at the festival. |

Q: "Why wasn't my car/truck/motorcycle judged?" A: If you were parked in the wrong area, the judges for your class had no idea where you were or even if you were still on the grounds, since so many left early. We don't expect every judge to search the entire car show to find every car they are supposed to judge. We tell them to look extensively in the general area they are supposed to be, and the 2 overflow areas, and you may not have parked in one of those areas. Cars that left early were not judged, obviously. Did you have your windshield sheet in a place where it could be easily seen? If not, the judges had no idea who you were or if you even registered. There is the very remote chance you didn't get entered into the computer system after you arrived and registered Sunday, due to the heavy workload. Pre-registering would have eliminated that possibility. You may have gotten judged, but somewhere along the line one of us may have had all the judging sheets for your class and decided to save the computer operator some time and not give him the judging sheets that were scored too low for a trophy. |

| We all do the best we can, but we all have regular jobs and the car show is a one shot performance that we have to try to get right the first time through, since there is no second chance | |||||||||
Q: Why didn't I win a trophy? My car/truck/motorcycle was far better than any of the ones that won a trophy." A: We have no idea why you didn't win a trophy. The scoring sheets are history now. Did you have your hood up? Were you parked in with the rest of your class? Check the results to see if you were judged. If not, see above. Maybe the judge who judged your car was cut off recently by a vehicle just like yours. Maybe his/her ex drives a car like yours and he had an unfair bias. Maybe the winner had a car just like what the judges' beloved and deceased grandfather used to own. Maybe your car just isn't as nice as you think it is, remember, YOU have a bias too. |

Q: "But I always win trophies at the other shows." A: This car show isn't like the other shows. We have utmost respect for the other shows that are held throughout the area, but we aren't trying to be like them, because we couldn't possibly approach their standards and staffing. This one is run differently by different people for a different overall goal. This car show is for fun only. |

Q: "I don't like the answer you gave me. Who's your boss? To whom can I appeal?" A: There is no "boss" and there are no appeals. The buck stops right here. The Jordan Fall Festival Committee fronts most of the money to buy dash plaques and trophies (not so much anymore, thanks to our awesome sponsors) and then we bring home the bacon that comes from you folks at the end of the day Sunday. We fully support the judge's decisions, and their decision is final. They are volunteers doing this out of the goodness of their hearts. |

Q: "I still don't like your answers. I will bring it up at our club meeting and other meetings I attend in Syracuse." [Comment from an actual email, verbatim] A: We are amateurs and we make mistakes and sometimes our awards seem to be totally arbitrary, we know that. We try hard and the vast majority of the time we are pretty darn close to the mark, and anyone who's been to our show more than once knows that. If you are uncomfortable with how we do things, then simply stay home next year, because we refuse to get beat up by the 3% that cannot be pleased no matter what happens. The other 97% DO "get it". |
Q: "Can I see my judging sheet to see where I can improve?" A: No, I'm sorry, you cannot. I wish I could let you see it. The finished judging sheets are private internal correspondence between the judges. Your score is recorded into the computer database, and the scoring sheets are destroyed immediately after the show has concluded. |

Q: It would appear that I won first [or second or third] place in my class with my 1966 [make and model.] I was wondering how I would go about picking up my trophy? I enjoyed my first time at the Jordan Fall Festival. I do have a couple of suggestions for the future, but will get into them when I have a bit more time. Thanks for your help. [Actual email] A: Let us know where you live and we'll go from there. If you're nearby, (Onondaga County) We'll arrange for you to pick it up somewhere, otherwise you may have to send me a few bucks for parcel post. By all means, let us know your ideas for improvement, we're always open to suggestions. |
