Those needing food must call ahead (by Wednesday at the latest)  689-6240.  This phone is the St. Patrick's Church office.  There is an answering machine for the food pantry at this number.

Donations are ALWAYS welcome!

Food donations: Fresh vegetables, eggs, anything perishable are welcome.  These, however, need to brought to us on or near the time we can distribute them so they do not spoil.  It would be best if donor would contact Joan Scott at (673-1722) or leave a  message at the pantry phone (689-6240) to arrange time for bringing fresh items.  Other food donations can be dropped off on Thursday evenings OR left in St. Patrick's Parish Center lobby (brick building behind the church) at any time.  The first set of doors is always open and there is a drop-off area just inside  door.

For large quantities, call Joan.

Money donations:  ALWAYS welcomeThe money is used to purchase fresh food each week to accompany the boxes of food from the pantry.  Each family receives fresh food consisting of fresh vegetable, fresh fruit, potatoes, milk, bread, margarine, eggs and meat (chicken and/or ground beef).  These fresh items average about $25 per family at this time.  Money is also used to restock supplies from time to time. Checks should be made payable to:  "JE Ecumenical Food Pantry" and can be sent to:  Joan Scott, 4874 Foster Road, Elbridge, NY   13060 or they can be left at the office at St. Patrick's Church Office (open 8:30 am to 3:00 pm) in the Parish Center behind the church.  Monday through Friday.

As far as items that we do not want:  PLEASE NO OUTDATED FOODS, or foods in packaging that is opened, rusty, stained, - in general, "if you wouldn't want to eat it, we don't want it either!"

We generally can not accept home-canned food, just because we can not be sure of its seal.

As you can imagine, the pantry's needs are greater than ever due to summer coming, and, of course,

the cost of food and fuel.

Also, if you know of anyone who has boxes that we could use for distributing our food, we could use some. They should be smaller than a banana box because they get too heavy for carrying.  Southern Container has been good about donating, but even they are cutting back on what they can do.
